Streamlining Special Needs Referrals for Families
Starting Point welcomed Michelle Rodgers, Registered Nurse, to its Special Needs Child Care program to more closely serve families seeking child care for their children with medical conditions.
This is the latest development on the program Starting Point has offered for 15 years in partnership with Cuyahoga County Invest in Children, streamlining the bridge between families and critical child care services.
Referrals are open to the community and encouraged from physicians offices, school partners, families, or any organization working with children with medical needs.
“Every family deserves access to reliable child care, and the need doesn’t change even when a child’s care needs do. With Michelle joining Starting Point’s team, can continue vital services – connecting families to child care providers who can care for their child, and helping those programs meet health and safety requirements,” said Karla Martin, Senior Director of Early Learning at Starting Point.
Michelle can assist child care providers with medical care plans and staff training, and will work closely with Starting Point’s referral team to connect families with licensed providers willing and able to work with children with a range of conditions like asthma, diabetes, seizure disorders, and many more.
“Both families and child care centers can easily feel stressed when it comes to understanding, and then being able to care for, children with medical needs. I can help them through that process so that they can all feel safe,” said Michelle Rodgers, Registered Nurse.
