Starting Point is now accepting applications for the Billie Osborne-Fears Fellowship, a prestigious two-year leadership development program designed to equip emerging professionals with the skills, experience, and connections to lead meaningful change in Northeast Ohio and beyond.
Named in honor of Starting Point’s visionary founder, the Billie Osborne-Fears Fellowship invests in the next generation of changemakers who are passionate about strengthening early education systems and building stronger communities.
Through this immersive, hands-on program, Fellows gain a deep understanding of how nonprofits drive innovation, policy, and support for children and families.
The Fellowship is offered in partnership with Case Western Reserve University’s Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, one of the nation’s leading institutions for nonprofit leadership education.
About the Fellowship
Over the course of two years (2026–2028), Fellows will receive both practical experience and academic training, preparing them to step confidently into leadership roles across the nonprofit and early childhood sectors.
Fellows will:
Lead agency-wide initiatives and contribute to key projects in program development, human resources, fundraising, and policy advocacy.
Receive mentorship from Starting Point’s leadership team and connect with nonprofit experts and community partners.
Earn an all-expenses-paid Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Case Western Reserve University’s Mandel School.
Present their accomplishments and impact to Starting Point’s Board of Directors at the completion of the program.

This still isn’t a one-size-fits-all. We’re accounting for your unique needs during intake, and we’ll strive to create a plan that not only works for you but also respects your individual circumstances and preferences. And, if there are speed bumps along the way, we will work with you to adjust the plan.
Compensation and Benefits
Fellows will receive:
$55,000 annual salary
Hybrid work schedule based in Cuyahoga County
Medical, dental, and vision benefits
Paid time off plus two annual organizational closures (one in summer, one in winter)
Professional development and travel stipend
Flexible scheduling, with occasional evening or weekend events
