Youth Transitions

Starting Point connects youth to out-of-school-time activities, services and support to help them succeed in school, college, work and life.

Starting Point is partnering with MyCom on a School Transitions initiative, which is helping Cuyahoga County families and children manage the all-important transitions to kindergarten, middle school, high school and college more effectively.

Together, we’ve created a strong County-wide system to link youth and their families to programs, materials and supportive services aimed at improving student achievement and success, including:

March into Kindergarten

March into Kindergarten is a community-wide public information campaign to help parents through the steps needed to register children for kindergarten—and alert them to the need to register in March of the year when the child is scheduled to begin school. Registering in March ensures that:

  • children have a smooth transition to school,
  • parents can obtain and submit the necessary records, and
  • schools have time to learn about students’ strengths, needs—and have adequate teachers, resources and an appropriate curriculum.

We offer Kindergarten Kits for Parents, information on registering for kindergarten and information for grandparents, relatives or other adults responsible for children For more information.
