Let’s Play with Words: All About Phonological and Phonemic Awareness
Two-Part Training
Part 1: December 2, 2026 | 6:00–7:30 PM
Part 2: December 9, 2026 | 6:00–7:30 PM
Participants must attend both sessions in full to receive Ohio Approved training credit.
Before children learn to read words on a page, they need opportunities to hear, notice, and play with the sounds in spoken language.
In this interactive two-part training, participants will explore phonological and phonemic awareness and discover why these important early literacy skills help build a strong foundation for future reading success.
Through playful, developmentally appropriate examples, participants will explore ways to help children hear rhymes, clap syllables, recognize beginning sounds, blend sounds, and play with words through everyday activities, songs, games, books, and conversations.
Participants will also discover how phonological and phonemic awareness skills connect to Ohio’s Early Learning and Development Standards (ELDS) and explore activities that support children across the developmental continuum within the Language and Literacy domain.
Come ready to listen, rhyme, clap, blend, and play with words while discovering simple ways to make early literacy learning fun and meaningful!
