Little Scientists at Work – Exploring Science Standards in Early Childhood
Part 1: Foundation — October 13, 2026 | 6:00PM -8:00PM
Part 2: Application — October 20, 2026 | 6:00PM -8:00PM
Participants must attend both Part 1 and Part 2 in full to receive Ohio Approved training credit.
Young children are natural scientists! Every time they ask “Why?”, mix materials together, investigate a bug, build a tower, watch the weather, or figure out how something works, they are engaging in science.
In this interactive two-part series, participants will discover how to turn children’s natural curiosity into meaningful science learning using Ohio’s Early Learning and Development Standards (ELDS).
In Part 1: Foundation, we’ll unpack the science standards and explore how they connect to physical science, life science, earth and space science, and engineering and technology. Participants will take a closer look at the science already happening through children’s play, exploration, conversations, and everyday routines.
Then, in Part 2: Application, it’s time to put those standards to work! Participants will explore simple, hands-on ways to encourage children to wonder, predict, investigate, experiment, and problem-solve using materials and experiences already found in early childhood environments. Each participant will leave with an activity plan connected to a science indicator from the ELDS.
No lab coats required! 🥼🔍 Come ready to explore how everyday moments can become opportunities for children to think, investigate, discover, and learn like little scientists!
