What is Cleveland Bonus and Retention Program?

A Program funded by the City of Cleveland for ODJFS child care programs and Family child care homes in Cleveland are to receive bonus and retention funds for their staff and/or program owners. 

What is 300% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL)?

The Federal Poverty Line is income criteria set by the Department of Health and Human Services

What does the Retention payment entail?
  • $500 for child care center staff hired BEFORE May 1, 2024  
  • $500 for family child care home owners licensed BEFORE May 1, 2024 
  • Program must be licensed within the City of Cleveland 
  • Employees must verify that they are under the income guidelines (see here/link to how to apply with income graphic) 
What does the Bonus payment entail?
  • $1,000 total bonus for staff hired on or after May 1, 2024; family child care licensed after May 1, 2024
  • $500 received at application approval; $500 additional after verified 90 days of employment for center staff and family child care owners
  • After 90 days – verification will be emailed to applicant to approve
  • Program must be ODJFS licensed and within the City of Cleveland 
  • Employees must verify that they are under the income guidelines
